The Justice System
The Ministry of Justice is responsible for the overall justice system, including the police and prosecution service, the courts and the prison and probation service.
The Ministry’s responsibility also includes foundation and data protection law.
The following authorities are constituents of the justice system:
- The Police
- The Courts and the Court Administration
- The Prison and Probation Service
- The Civil Affairs Agency
- The Data Protection Agency
- The Prosecution Service
The task of the Prosecution Service is to collaborate with the police in the prosecution of crimes in accordance with the provisions of Denmark’s Administration of Justice Act. The Prosecution Service is under the authority of the Minister of Justice, who is responsible for the supervision of public prosecutors. The Prosecution Service comprises the Director of Public Prosecutions, the public prosecutors and the police commissioners. Link to Danish website here.
